During pride month, let’s make mental health a priority

LQBTG
Did you know that Behavioral Health Solutions (BHS) has a team of therapists that specialize in treating the LGBTQ community?

Each year, during the month of June, people join together to recognize and celebrate pride month. Pride month is a time to reflect on the impact the LGBTQ community has on the world. Now, more than ever, is also a time to make mental health a priority, especially the mental health of the LGBTQ population across the world.

The individuals in the LGBTQ community are three times more likely to experience a mental health condition. The discrimination of individuals in this community have been specifically linked with high rates of psychiatric disorders, substance abuse, and suicide.

How can we as a community and at BHS make mental health a priority to the LGBTQ community? The first step is to normalize and encourage conversations about mental health and wellness. It is important for all of us to educate ourselves about wellness and look for resources. BHS is an excellent resource in supporting this community bringing high quality mental health services to those in need.

BHS is proud to represent and support the LGBTQ family as we come together this month to celebrate.
